This smoothie! Swoon. It’s amazing how a simple Berry Basil Smoothie can light up one’s day. Isn’t it?
I’ve been recipe developing for the Spring Dump, and this smoothie was just missing…something.
Secret ingredient? TAHINI. That’s right. Tahini. If you’re not familiar with such a thing it’s essentially like peanut butter, but it’s made with sesame seeds instead. Yes, a sesame delight. That makes a smoothie creamy and smoothie and exciting. It also adds a bit of lovely fat and protein to the smoothie.
I chose this combination because I just so happen to have these things around, including this big, beautiful basil plant that I just HAD to use in a smoothie. Had to. Mandatory. Fresh herbs in smoothies are THE BEST! They certainly introduce some excitement. Perhaps not as much as the tahini. But it’s up there.
The Berry Basil Smoothie recipe below will take you no time. Use my Easy Coconut Milk recipe if all you have on hand is shredded coconut. Or sub in with another type of plant-based milk.
